films I’d like to see in 2012:
- the Place Beyond the Pines (directed by Derek Cianfrance, starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Rose Byrne, Eva Mendes) It’s a “multi-generational story of a motorcycle stunt rider who considers committing a crime in order to provide for his newborn child, an act that puts him on a collision course with a cop-turned-politician.” reasons to see it: ”Stunt rider” is the only key word in common with Drive, so we can stop with that comparison right now. It’s the second collaboration for Cianfrance and Gosling, after working together on Blue Valentine, and a definite change of pace. Here’s hoping he can bring out the same level of raw emotion and depth with the added action.
